Mapping Irish Water Bodies: Comparison of Platforms, Indices and Water Body Type

چکیده

Accurate monitoring of water bodies is essential for the management and regulation resources. Traditional methods measuring quality are always time-consuming expensive; furthermore, it can be very difficult capture full spatiotemporal variations across regions. Many studies have shown possibility remote-sensing-based work in many areas, especially monitoring. However, use optical remotely sensed imagery depends on several factors, including weather, images size bodies. Hence, this study, feasibility remote sensing Republic Ireland was investigated. To assess value monitoring, critical to know how well existing situ stations mapped. In two satellite platforms (Sentinel-2 MSI Landsat-8 OLI) four indices separating land pixel (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index—NDVI; Normalized Water Index—NDWI; Modified Index—MNDWI; Automated Extraction Index—AWEI) been used create masks scenarios. first scenario (Scenario 1), we included all pixels classified as water, while second 2) accounts potential contamination only that were completed surround by other pixels. The different scenarios combinations then compared with station shapefile river network, lakes coastal transitional We found both had Ireland, Sentinel-2 outperforming Landsat due its finer spatial resolution. Overall, able map ~25% station, could ~21%. These percentages heavily impacted large number either their location smaller rivers. Our results showed importance testing indices. No index performed best platforms. AWEInsh (Automated Index—no shadow) outperformed over 80% area non-river Ireland. While MNDWI Landsat-8, worst performer Sentinel-2. This study has larger rivers,

Open Surface Water Mapping Algorithms: A Comparison of Water-Related Spectral Indices and Sensors

Open surface water bodies play an important role in agricultural and industrial production, and are susceptible to climate change and human activities. Remote sensing data has been increasingly used to map open surface water bodies at local, regional, and global scales. In addition to image statistics-based supervised and unsupervised classifiers, spectral indexand threshold-based approaches ha...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Comparison of Muscle Mass, Total Body Water and Total Body Protein in Type II Diabetics with Healthy Matched Adults by Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis

Background: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a new and rapid technique to validate body composition. Several studies have used this technique to evaluate body compositions, such as muscle mass, in diabetic patients, but the results are very different. This may due the differences between diabetic patients and control group. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the muscle mass of diab...

The comparison of absorbed dose measurements for water and artificial body fluid

Background: Advances in radiation dosimetry concepts and the development of primary measurement standards based on absorbed dose to water over the last decades offer the possibility to calibrate ionisation chambers directly in terms of absorbed dose to water. The aim of this study is the investigation on utility of artificial body fluid (ABF) instead of water by comparing dosimetric me...

Pollution Studies of Some Water Bodies in Lagos, Nigeria

Over the years, there has been an obvious pollution problem in Lagos area, Nigeria with high population of over eleven million and the near absence of waste management infrastructures. Concentrations of some pollution parameters and trace elements (temperature, pH, salinity, SO42-, NO3-, PO43-, F-, DO, BOD, COD and coliform, Cr, Co, Ni, Ag, Cd and Pb) were determined from water bodies of Isolo ...
